Welcome to the Preschool Ministry at FBCO!
A trained, dedicated and loving staff works together to provide a secure, stimulating environment where your child can learn spiritual truths through a variety of programs. Parents of preschoolers volunteer in the helping hands ministry on a rotation basis.
In connection with the broader mission of FBCO, all preschool learning experiences are God-centered and Bible based. Curriculum is developmentally and biblically appropriate in design to provide challenging opportunities through center teaching as children learn about God, Jesus, church, family, nature, self and others. We hope to meet the needs of preschoolers and parents as we attempt to “invest in children” for Christ.
Safety is important! For your peace of mind:
- All teachers have completed a volunteer screening form which includes references and security checks.
- A security system is in place for your child’s safety.
- Toys & classroom equipment are disinfected between uses.
- Two teachers are present in the classroom at all times. Walk around supervision is provided.
Saturday Night
(6:00 – 8:00)
Infants – Two Year Olds
While parents attend worship and small group Bible study, quality care for infants through two year olds is provided by trained and caring leaders. Purposeful play is encouraged to help children build relationships with other children and adults. Natural conversation offers opportunities for sharing Bible thoughts.
Three-Five Year Olds
Threes through fives learn Bible truths through interactive center experiences and group time. Lessons are age-appropriate and include dramatic play, art, nature, books, blocks and puzzles, and manipulatives. Trained, loving leaders guide every aspect of the child’s experience as parents attend worship and small group Bible study.
Sunday Morning
(8:30, 9:45, 11:00) Trained, caring leaders minister to the youngest members of the First Baptist family by caring for infants during all Sunday morning services. Teachers interact with infants in loving, caring ways so that babies develop the foundation of faith—trust, which over time, prepares the child to express trust in Christ as Savior. Toddlers learn Bible concepts in the ways they learn best—through activity. Center activities include dramatic play, blocks, puzzles, books, nature experiences, and art. Each center is planned to support a specific, age-appropriate Bible truth, which is also conveyed through natural conversation and a short group time. Toddler classes are offered during all services. Threes through kindergartners have increasing skills, and they enjoy the opportunity to experience Bible truths through specifically planned center experiences (dramatic play, blocks, puzzles, books, nature, and art). The curriculum is designed to challenge every developmental domain and engage the whole child as they grow in their understanding of God’s love. Preschool classes are offered during all services. We are currently in need of Preschool teachers for the fall. If you feel that you are being called to serve please call Jennifer Gumm in the KidsLife Office at 632-6223 ext. 221 or email at jennifer.gumm@fbcofallon.org
Sunday Night
The Bible teaches that God honors the praises of his people. Help your child learn to sing His praises early in life by attending Children’s Choir. Preschool choirs are available for threes, fours and kindergarten students. The children practice what they are learning by singing in specifically scheduled Wednesday or Sunday worship services.
Monday Morning M.O.P.S.
Mothers of Preschoolers is a fun time for moms to have "Mom Time." M.O.P.S. helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mother of young children. Preschoolers enjoy their own time in Moppets groups which meet all FBCO standards. For more information, email darlene.leatherwood@fbcofallon.org.
Wednesday Night
TinyKids
Yes, even the tiniset kids can enjoy learning Bible truths! Your four, five and kindergarten children will gather in a large group to enjoy a fun, interactive time of music related to a Bible emphasis. They will then form smaller groups and rotate through learn-it, make-it, and play-it discovery centers. All activities are geared to enhance learning in age-appropriate ways and provide opportunities for children to make friends with other children and leaders. A theme related snack will be enjoyed in the final center. journaling, to reinforce the Bible truth.
Weekday Preschool
FBCO’s weekday preschool, Creation Corner, exists to minister to preschoolers and their families by providing a warm, loving, safe and fun environment where children are encouraged to learn and grow. Our hope is to provide an atmosphere where children know they are unique and specially created by God.
Creation Corner is in session Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
KidsCare
We are excited when parents are involved in ministries of First Baptist Church. The Kidscare ministry of our church is designed to provide a quality experience for children while parents are involved in a variety of church sponsored activities. Whatever the event, your child will be taught from a specific curriculum using age-appropriate, guided play activities to support a specific biblically-centered teaching aim. Children age two and above will participate in a group time which includes music and a Bible story. All teachers are screened, trained, and supervised. Security standards are in place, and parents are required to sign their child in and out at the close of the session. Meals are not served in a preschool department unless specified by the curriculum. Parents should feed their children before they arrive for activities unless otherwise specified. For the protection of your child and others, any child who is ill or appears ill cannot be accepted into Kidscare. Our health guidelines are based on the recommendations taken from the Report of the Committee on Control of Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Reservations Required Most Kidscare is provided by reservation only. Reservations may be made by contacting Jennifer Gumm in the KidsLife office either by telephone, 632-6223 ext.221 or on-line at jennifer.gumm@fbcofallon.org. If reservations are not made, the Kidscare assistant may be unable to provide care in order to maintain safety standards. Elementary sessions are provided by special request only, and reservations are required. Students will be assigned to classrooms based on age, and will be provided age-appropriate learning opportunities with screened, trained teachers. Parents may be asked to provide food if the session covers a meal time. Elementary students are required to meet the same health standards listed above.
